Ganart Technologies presents new technology to serve the underbanked
at the Eurogiro Asia Pacific Meeting

November 27, 2010

Eurogiro, a global community and network for international payments and remittances, gathered members, partners and prospective members for an Asia Pacific meeting in New Delhi, India on 10 November. The Imperial Hotel, the site of many significant meetings in New Delhi since 1911, was befitting for this international gathering of attendees represented by 23 organizations across 16 countries, mainly from the Asia Pacific region.

The Eurogiro meeting focused on how international, low-value payments and remittance services were changing with the advent of new technology, new payment channels and regulatory changes.  Eurogiro aims to further build its presence and transaction volume for international payments and remittances in the Asia Pacific region through the exchange of payments between its unique member community of postal administrations, banks and other financial service providers.

Attendees were welcomed at the start of the meeting by Mr. Samant, Member, Technology, Postal Services Board, Department of Posts, India. The country of India is the largest recipient country of inbound remittances according to the World Bank. Financial inclusion is a top agenda item for the government, for around 70% of the Indian population is unbanked or underserved with financial access.

Webb Edwards, Co-founder, Ganart Technologies

Webb Edwards, Co-Founder of Ganart Technologies presented their technology solution that has been specifically built, with an understanding of the unbanked customer experience and its infrastructure challenging dynamics, to deliver financial services to the underbanked in non-urban and remote areas.  Representatives from India Post, the World Bank, MasterCard and Xac Bank also gave presentations, demonstrating their plans and solutions to support international remittances and financial inclusion.

The Ganart Technologies solution demonstrated how its cloud computing platform can provide a host of financial, as well as retail services, to both urban and remote areas at a low cost and with multi-language capability. Reaching citizens in non-urban areas, especially for the “last mile” for payments, has been a long-time issue, especially in many developing countries. Ganart’s technology platform allows posts and banks to deliver services across a broad spectrum of hardware devices and run the entire enterprise across one common interoperable system.

Kris Glover, Ganart Technologies, demonstrates the Ganart Solution to Eurogiro meeting attendees

The Eurogiro meeting attendees gathered during the breakout session to view a live demonstration of the Ganart Solution via simulated terminal management system and a remote endpoint tablet. Kristopher Glover, Chief Technology Officer of Ganart Technologies, demonstrated how services delivered via a tablet, kiosk, or other user interface would enhance the customer experience, provide a host of no-frills financial services and provide higher security measures for the customer and organization.

Eurogiro meeting attendees represented posts, banks and other financial service providers from 23 organizations across 16 countries

The merits of Ganart’s hardware agnostic, world class system were noted by attendees, as well as the differentiating ability to continuously add or upgrade services without the need of an on-site technology refresh of hardware or software. Organizations in both developed and developing countries can benefit by maximizing consumer reach, and minimizing the cost of hardware ownership over a longer period of time.
